'Internet is not reality' - Benzema denies Real Madrid exit rumours

Real Madrid captain Karim Benzema has spoken about his future at the club, refuting rumours linking him to a Los Blancos exit. 

Benzema had been linked with a mega-money move to Saudi Arabia to play for former teammate Cristiano Ronaldo’s new side, Al Nassr’s arch-rivals Al-Ittihad but the French forward has labelled the stories linking him with a Bernabeu exit as being false. 

Benzema was speaking at an event organised by Spanish outlet Marca to honour his time in LaLiga when he first spoke about his admiration for Real Madrid and its fans, saying, “I know how much Real Madrid fans love me. I feel that when I’m on the pitch. I give my best for them, always”

“I always say that we play with 11 on the pitch but also with a crucial factor, Real Madrid fans.”

When pressed about his potential exit from the club and whether he would be addressing Real Madrid fans about his future, Benzema claimed there was nothing to clarify, calling the rumours of an exit mere internet chatter. 

Answering a question about his future, Benzema said, “Stay or leave Real Madrid? At the moment, I’m here… we have a game on Saturday.”

Regarding recent rumours linking him to a move to the Saudi Professional League, Benzema said, “Speak to Madrid fans? Speak about what? “Why should I talk about the future? I’m at Real Madrid. “Who’s speaking is the internet. Reality is not the same as what is said on the internet.”

The coming days will tell whether Benzema was sincere about his plans to remain at Real Madrid despite rumours of a mouth-watering deal from Al-Ittihad on the table.
