IMC warns clubs over hooliganism
The organizers of the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL), the Interim Management Committee (IMC) have warned NPFL clubs to maintain good conduct at match venues.
IMC Chairman, Gbenga Elegbeleye said in his goodwill message to the 20 participating clubs wishing the players and teams success in the season.
"As the remaining games of Matchday one will be held this weekend after the successful flag-off last Sunday, I wish to congratulate all the clubs as they start the season.
"I wish the clubs success as a team and the players, a great outing individually and collectively," Elegbeleye said in his message.
IMC assured clubs of fairness
Meanwhile, Elegbeye assured the clubs that IMC will be neutral and enforce the rules guiding the league with fairness.
He said, "there will be a level playing field for every club as the IMC will not favor any club nor disadvantage any club."
He also charged match officials to be fair and use the rules of the game as guidance.
"I am appealing to the Match Officials to keep to the promise they made to the President of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Alhaji Ibrahim Gusau, and uphold the highest standards of officiating", he charged.
Elegbeleye charges clubs to sensitize fans
The chairman also charged the clubs to educate and sensitize their fans to maintain good conduct at match venues.
He warned, "the IMC has zero tolerance for fan disturbance and would apply the full weight of the regulations on any default."
The remaining matchday one fixture will continue this weekend.
