In a candid conversation, he not only revealed his admiration for the Gunners, but also expressed concern for his beloved Manchester United and praised Mikel Arteta’s title-chasing Arsenal side.

In a revelation that would shock many Manchester United supporters, Ronaldo disclosed that he nearly joined Arsenal early in his career.

He told Piers Morgan: “It’s true story. I was close to joining Arsenal many years ago… but it’s the past.”

The Al Nassr forward went on to confess that he has always had a soft spot for the North London club, saying: “Honestly, when I look at Arsenal, I'm always looking at them not like a rival. I like the team, I like them!”

Ronaldo praised Arsenal’s development under Mikel Arteta and backed them to potentially win the Premier League this season. He believes their form and consistency make them genuine contenders: “It’s possible… It’s possible for Arsenal. [Will they?!] Probably. They can do it. It’s possible. Let’s see.”
