‘I am being declared a traitor’ - Fenerbahce legend criticised for defending Osimhen
This backlash started from his support for Galatasaray's Victor Osimhen and his criticism of Fenerbahce's own striker, Youssef En-Nesyri.
Osimhen has been in fine form for Galatasaray since joining the Turkish side on loan during the summer transfer window.
He recently helped his team to a 4-1 victory over Sivasspor on Saturday evening by scoring a brace.
What Serhat said
Serhat Akın has expressed his dissatisfaction with recent fan criticism, maintaining that his worries are rooted in the team's bad performance.
Serhat Akın said, as reported by gsgazete, "The Fenerbahçe community is a big community. I criticise En-Nesyri; I defend Osimhen.
"I am being declared a traitor. Stop these empty chats. Galatasaray goes and scores 5 against Eyüpspor and scores 4 against Sivasspor in the first half.
"Fenerbahce draws with Eyüpspor and gives points to Samsunspor and Kayserispor at home. How can I defend Fenerbahce?"
Having been involved in 33 goals (26 goals and 7 assists) across 47 matches for Jose Mourinho's team this season, En-Nesyri has shown a considerable impact.
However, Osimhen is currently performing at his peak, directly contributing to 41 goals in just 37 appearances.
The Nigerian international is currently leading the Turkish League goalscorer chart with 24n goals this season.
