‘He thinks he’s too good to be benched’ - Ex-Celtic star slams Salah for disrespectful comments
The Reds were held to a 3-3 draw with Leeds United on Saturday, adding more pressure to their already crumbling season.
The Egyptian forward, who was an unused substitute, gave a fiery interview claiming he had been "thrown under the bus" by the club and manager Arne Slot.
Salah voiced his frustrations to reporters, suggesting his relationship with manager Arne Slot has completely broken down.
Sutton slams Salah
Former Celtic striker Chris Sutton was among those to condemn Salah's remarks, arguing that the 33-year-old had shown a lack of respect for his teammates and the manager.
"Embarrassing from Mo Salah and disrespectful to his teammates and his manager," Sutton tweeted, as reported by Goal.
"If a player’s form drops as Salah’s has, he is the same as anyone else and has to accept being benched… but he thinks he’s too good to be benched, sadly."
Salah's form this season has been a stark contrast to the previous campaign, in which he was instrumental in Liverpool's Premier League title win, scoring 29 goals and providing 18 assists.
This term, he has managed just four goals and two assists in 13 league appearances amid a downturn in the team's performance.
Having been left on the bench for two of the last three league matches, Salah appears to believe he is being unfairly singled out. However, pundit Chris Sutton offered a blunt assessment of the situation.
