Moffi and his teammate Jérémie Boga were assaulted by a mob of angry fans on Sunday night following Nice's 3-1 loss to Lorient.

The defeat marked the club's sixth consecutive loss across all competitions, amplifying the pressure on the Sir Jim Ratcliffe-owned team.

The incident occurred when the team bus returned to the club's training facility, where approximately 400 supporters had gathered.

What was intended to be a tense but organised discussion quickly spiralled out of control. After two fans were allowed on the bus to express their anger, the situation escalated as players began to disembark.

According to multiple French media reports, the scene turned chaotic as Moffi and Boga were "punched, kicked, and spat on", with some blows allegedly aimed at their genitals.

The reports also state that Moffi was subjected to racist abuse. Moffi, who played the full match, was accused by some ultras of "smiling" with his former Lorient president, Loïc Féry, after the game.

Speaking to RMC Sport, Paris FC forward Moses Simon confirmed that Moffi is still shaken by the ordeal.

"I talked with him; he is touched and, in addition, he still has a bit of pain," Simon said, indicating his compatriot has not yet recovered from the traumatic event.

"When something like that happens, it’s not good. For a big Ligue 1 club, it’s not good," he stated. "That something like that could happen in a club of a top-five European championship… It’s really a mess, so I really hope that the club and the Federation will do something."

Following medical evaluations, Moffi was placed on sick leave until Sunday due to the "physical and psychological impact" of the assault. Boga was granted at least five days of medical leave.
