He played right back - Super Eagles captain hails star player despite playing out of position
The Super Eagles boost their chances of qualifying for the World Cup with a historic 2-0 victory over Rwanda.
Victor Osimhen scored a brace in the first half to give Nigeria a comfortable victory in their Group C clash.
However, they still have a lot of work to do to qualify for the World Cup and must avoid defeat in their remaining games.
Ekong hails Alhassan
Alhassan Yusuf received praise from Troost-Ekong for his versatility and team spirit, as he willingly moved out of his usual position to fill in at right back.
The midfielder came in as a substitute in the 77th minute after Bright Osayi-Samuel was injured in the game
Speaking after the game, via Allnigeriasoccer, Ekong said, "Today's performance was a collective performance just as important as other players that came off the bench.
"We had debutant Tolu (Arokodare) who was fantastic, players that played out of position like (Alhassan) Yusuf who came in and played right back and I could go on and go on."
The extent of Bright Osayi-Samuel's injury is yet to be known as Nigeria prepares for their second clash against Zimbabwe in Uyo.
