Hand of God - Neymar sent off for attempting scoring with hand in Santos defeat

Neymar has missed seven games due to injury and has yet to register a goal or assist in the four matches he's played.

Following the loss, Santos continues to struggle this season, currently sitting 18th in the Brazilian Serie A table after 11 matches.

Brazilian star Neymar was sent off in the 76th minute when he punched the ball into the net from close range, according to Goal.

The referee immediately disallowed the goal and issued the former Paris Saint-Germain and Barcelona forward his second yellow, much to the dismay of the home supporters.

Later in the game, Botafogo capitalised on their one-man advantage, with Artur Victor Guimaraes snatching a late winner for the visitors.

Neymar's international future also remains uncertain after being omitted from Carlo Ancelotti's first Brazil squad.

The red card suspension will further delay his opportunity to impress the new national team manager.
