William Saliba has brushed off speculation linking him to Real Madrid, expressing his desire to sign a new contract with the Gunners soon.
The 24-year-old, a two-time PFA Team of the Year selection, has become one of the Premier League’s top defenders.
Despite interest from Real Madrid, who, per Cadena SER, placed him atop their ‘Operation 2026’ wishlist, Arsenal are eager to secure Saliba’s future.
The Spanish giants view Arsenal’s valuation as a hurdle but plan talks with Saliba and the club. Arsenal, however, see Saliba as vital to Mikel Arteta’s project and are prioritizing a long-term deal.
After shining in Arsenal’s pre-season win over Newcastle on July 26, 2025, Saliba addressed his future in the mixed zone, telling AFTV;
“Hopefully soon! God is great. This year we will try to win everything.” His current contract runs until June 2027.
