Ghana legend André Ayew confirms he has no plans to retire from professional football
Ghanaian international André Ayew has made it clear that retirement is not on his mind anytime soon, reaffirming his commitment to continue playing professional football.
What Ayew said
The veteran forward, who currently features for Dutch side NAC Breda, shared his thoughts in an interview with ESPN, stating that he remains in excellent physical condition and is fully focused on extending his career.
He said, “I never thought about it (retirement) because my body is good, I feel good. I live my life day to day, so I prepare myself every time to have a better tomorrow on the field and off the field. I don’t think about that. When the moment comes, your body will tell you.”
Ayew continues to defy expectations with his professionalism and dedication. The experienced attacker has enjoyed a distinguished career across Europe, playing in France’s Ligue 1, the English Premier League, and Turkey’s Süper Lig.
Ayew holds a historic milestone with Ghana, earning a record 120 caps for the Black Stars. His international journey has included multiple Africa Cup of Nations appearances and FIFA World Cup tournaments, where he played pivotal roles for his country.
However, the former Ghana captain has not been called up to the national team since the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.
