Gerrard picks Suarez over Salah, Torres, Haaland, but not 1 surprise French star
Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard showed how much he rated Luis Suárez in a recent interview in which he tipped the Uruguayan over a host of high-level forwards. However, he eventually picked a player over Suarez, and the choice was rather interesting.
What Gerrard did
The former England international was participating in the “this or that” game, a social media “quick hits” questioning format that presents two options to the interviewee. Their choice tends to indicate preference or perceived superiority.
Gerrard picked Suarez over the likes of Harry Kane, Mohamed Salah, Robert Lewandowski, Erling Haaland, Fernando Torres, Sergio Aguero, Robin Van Persie and even Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
However, when the former Barcelona star was pitted against 2022 Ballon d'Or winner Karim Benzema, Gerrard took pause before picking the Real Madrid legend over his former teammate.
Gerrard rates Suarez highly
Gerrard's choice of Benzema should not be taken lightly, as the former Al-Ettifaq coach is a huge Luis Suarez fan. While this can be deduced from the names he picked Suarez ahead of, he had also named the Inter Miami star as the best footballer he played with in his 17-year career.
