Galatasaray vs Bodo/Glimt: Osimhen smashes European record to lead Lions to second victory
Victor Osimhen scored in his seventh consecutive European tie for Galatasaray, as they beat Bodo/Glimt 3-1 in Turkey.
The Nigerian striker became the first player in Galatasaray history to reach this feat, with a brilliant first-half brace, with Yunus Akgun scoring the Lions' other goal, while Andreas Helmersen scored a consolation for Bodo/Glimt.
Galatasaray vs Bodo/Glimt: How it happened
Victor Osimhen delivered a masterclass as Galatasaray eased past Bodø/Glimt with a 3-1 win, extending their superb run in all competitions. The Nigerian striker opened the scoring just three minutes in, capitalising on early defensive chaos before terrorising the visitors’ backline with his relentless pressing and movement.
After Haikin denied him twice, Osimhen struck again in the 33rd minute, punishing a poor backpass from Fredrik André Bjørkan by rounding the keeper and slotting home his second of the night. Bodø/Glimt threatened briefly before halftime, with Sondre Brunstad Fet hitting the post, but Galatasaray remained firmly in control.
After the break, the Norwegians showed more ambition, but their sloppiness continued to cost them. Osimhen once again proved decisive, dispossessing Haitam Aleesami to set up Yunus Akgün for Galatasaray’s third goal.
Bodø/Glimt managed a late consolation through Andreas Helmersen’s header, but it did little to change the outcome.
The result gave Galatasaray their 21st win in 23 matches, while ending Bodø/Glimt’s five-game unbeaten European run. For Osimhen, it was another reminder that when he’s in full flow, few defenders in Europe can stop him.
