Manchester United returned to winning ways in the Premier League with a crucial 1-0 win over Fulham, thanks to a late strike from Lisandro Martinez.

Ruben Amorim turns 40 on January 27, and the perfect birthday gift was delivered in the most difficult circumstances.

The game was dull for the most part, producing the least xG of any Premier League game this season, but United got the three points and that's what matters.

The entire first half was a cagey affair; Alex Iwobi had a shot that was easily gathered by Andre Onana but that was it for chances.

The second half was more of the same, with neither team able to muster much in the way of an attacking threat. United's Bruno Fernandes sent a low free-kick into the side netting.

Amorim's men finally broke the deadlock in the 78th minute thanks to a heavily deflected shot from Lisandro Martínez.
