The 90-day suspension was handed down by FUFA's Investigatory Chamber to Nkata and his Buhimba United Saints FC teammates, Ayebale Moses and Dudu Ramathan.

The action follows an investigation into their club's match against Lugazi FC on Saturday, November 8, 2025, which is suspected to have been fixed for betting purposes.

FUFA has initiated formal proceedings against the players for a potential violation of Article 43 of its Ethics and Disciplinary Code, which addresses the manipulation of football matches.

The federation stated that the suspensions were necessary to protect the integrity of the sport while the investigation continues.

Nkata, a seasoned left-back, joined Buhimba United Saints in August 2025 from Congolese club AS Otoho. His extensive career includes successful spells in the FKF Premier League with Gor Mahia, Tusker, and Bandari, as well as stints with Ugandan sides SC Villa and Kira Young FC.

The federation has confirmed that the players have been notified and their suspensions are effective immediately. Furthermore, FUFA noted that the alleged conduct could also breach criminal law under the National Sports Act and intends to report the matter to the Uganda Police.

Adding another layer to the story, the controversial goal in the match under review was scored by David Bagoole, a former Sofapaka FC player with his own history in the Kenyan Premier League.

The case also has a significant family connection for Nkata. He is the son of Paul Nkata, the coach who famously led Tusker FC to the Kenyan Premier League title in 2016.

The elder Nkata's career was later marred by match-fixing allegations in 2019 while at Kakamega Homeboyz. Although he was ultimately cleared, four of his players received FIFA bans in connection with the scandal.
