'Faith is the assurance' — Arsenal star puts out powerful Bible message ahead of Real Madrid clash

Arsenal defender Jurrien Timber sent out a powerful, galvanising message to fans of the club ahead of their all-important Champions League clash against Real Madrid.

With their Premier League dreams slipping away with every passing gameweek, the Champions League remains the Gunners’ only chance of winning silverware this season. 

To do that, however, they have to conquer the most dominant and successful club in the competition’s history, Real Madrid. 

While the bookmakers and supercomputers fancy Arsenal's chances, football fans around the world scoff at even the suggestion that the Gunners can keep their unbeaten Champions League record against Los Merengues.

Aware of the daunting nature of the task beforehand, the Netherlands international tweeted a Bible verse that speaks on the importance of faith. 

“Hebrews 11:1,” Timber shared on X, and the verse reads, “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen,” according to the New King James Version.

This action is not out of character for the former Ajax defender, who regularly puts out galvanising Bible verses via his social media accounts ahead of Arsenal matches. 

Arsenal will host Real Madrid later tonight at the Emirates Stadium for the first leg of the clash before journeying to Madrid for the second leg at the renovated Santiago Bernabeu.
