Errol Spence Jr and Terence Crawford set for undisputed fight

The undisputed welterweight championship will be decided on July 29 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas when Terence Crawford and Errol Spence Jr. square off.

The loser will have the option to invoke the two-way rematch clause.

A tentative trilogy is planned, with the third fight taking place at 154 pounds and the winner probably pushing for a championship chance.

Hardcore boxing fans believe that this battle may be the most time-sensitive in all of sports.

Spence (28-0, 22 KOs) defeated British fighter Kell Brook to claim the IBF title.

After recovering from a retinal rupture in his left eye, he would add the WBC belt in 2019 and the WBA belt in 2022 against Yordenis Ugas.

Crawford won titles at 135 and 140 pounds before switching to welterweight in 2018 and defeating Jeff Horn to claim the WBO world championship.

He has successfully defended the belt six times, most recently in December 2022 against David Avanesyan.

The last stated date is July 29, although both sides have not yet exchanged contracts. 

Fans will likely continue to be skeptical as a result, but there's no denying that the elite-level matchup, which has long been cited as an example of how the sport fail to pit the best against the best.
