Elche vs Barcelona: Blaugrana restore four-point LALIGA lead with dominant performance

Barcelona maintained their grip on the LaLiga summit with a 3–1 win over Elche at the Estadio Martínez Valero, as Lamine Yamal, Ferran Torres and Marcus Rashford all found the net to seal the victory.

Barcelona set the tone inside the first 10 minutes. In the 6th minute, Yamal picked up the ball after a precise through pass from Dani Olmo, drove at the Elche defence and calmly rounded goalkeeper Iñaki Peña before finishing into the empty net to give Barça an early lead.

Elche responded with energy, and their persistence paid off in the 29th minute. Álvaro Rodríguez capitalised on a moment when Barcelona’s defence was slightly stretched, taking a well-weighted pass in behind and firing a low, well-placed finish beyond Joan García to level the score at 1–1. 

Barcelona hit back before half-time. In the 40th minute, Ferran made no mistake after good work from Frenkie de Jong, receiving the ball in the area and converting with a composed right-footed finish to restore the visitors’ advantage going into the break. 

The decisive third goal came in the 72nd minute after sustained Barca pressure. A teasing cross from Yamal caused confusion in the Elche box, and Marcus Rashford was quickest to react, slamming home from close range to make it 3–1 and put the result beyond doubt
