Philadelphia Eagles defender Moro Ojomo has earned praise ahead of the 2025 season as defensive line coach Clint Hurtt spoke glowingly about the 23-year-old following the team’s 11th training camp session.
Hurtt, who joined the Eagles’ coaching staff in 2024, has worked closely with Ojomo and his fellow linemen, including Milton Williams and Jalen Carter.
What Hurtt said
Hurtt praised Ojomo’s ability to read the game and communicate effectively during high-pressure moments.
“He’s an every-down player. We don’t view him as just a situational guy,” Hurtt said, signalling that Ojomo has carved out an important role in the defensive rotation.
“He recognises blocking schemes, adjusts to protections, and comes to the sideline with smart suggestions. That’s when you know a player is starting to become like a coach on the field,” Hurtt explained.
The Philadelphia Eagles selected Moro Ojomo with the 249th overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft. The move sparked two immediate talking points: his perceived lack of size for a defensive tackle and the possibility that the team had found a hidden gem in the later rounds.
Now entering his third season, the young lineman’s trajectory suggests the latter might be true.
At 6-foot-3 and just under 300 pounds, Ojomo has often been described as undersized for his position.
Ojomo gradually earned the trust of defensive coordinator Vic Fangio during the 2024 season, even if his contributions didn’t always make headlines in the box score.
The Eagles open their season against the Dallas Cowboys in prime time, and if Hurtt’s endorsement is any indication, Ojomo is set to play a central role in the defensive front from day one.
