D'Tigress receive surprise backing from American basketball legend to beat USA in Paris 2024 Olympics

Nigeria's women's basketball team, the D'Tigress, have received a massive boost from NBA legend Dwayne Wade ahead of their historic quarterfinal clash against the United States at the 2024 Paris Olympics.

The African champions have already made history by becoming the first-ever male or female team from the continent to reach the quarterfinals of the Olympic basketball tournament. 

They achieved this feat after stunning world No. 5 Canada 79-70 in their final group match.

With their confidence soaring, the D'Tigress now face the daunting task of taking on the multiple-defending champions, the USA, in the last eight. 

However, they have received a ringing endorsement from one of basketball's all-time greats, Dwayne Wade.

The former Miami Heat star took to social media to congratulate the Nigerian team on their stunning win over Canada, stating, "Congrats, now I see why y'all so confident."

The D'Tigress' remarkable journey to the quarterfinals has captured the imagination of basketball fans around the world. 

They have already taken down world No. 3 Australia and world No. 5 Canada, proving that they can compete with the best teams in the world.

The quarterfinal clash against the USA will take place in Paris on Wednesday, at 8:00 PM Nigerian time, with the game expected to be available for fans to watch on SuperSport.
