‘Dream Come True’ - Zulte Waregem midfielder Tochukwu Nnadi reacts to first Super Eagles Call-Up
Zulte Waregem midfielder Tochukwu Nnadi has expressed immense joy after earning his first-ever senior international call-up, describing his invitation to the Super Eagles as the fulfillment of a lifelong dream.
The 22-year-old is one of five new players named in Nigeria’s squad for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), following a string of impressive performances for his Belgian Pro League side this season.
What Nnadi said
Speaking to the Super Eagles media team, Nnadi revealed that the call-up came earlier than he had expected, making the moment even more special for him and his family.
He said, “I was happy, and my family was happy as well. It’s a dream come true. Since I was young, I’ve been dreaming of playing for the national team.
“I played for the U-20s, and now I’m in the Super Eagles. I wasn’t expecting it to be so soon, but now I’m here, and I’m happy.”
The former Flying Eagles midfielder acknowledged the weight of responsibility that comes with wearing the green and white of Nigeria.
He added, “I know being in the national team comes with a lot of pressure. I come from a country with over 200 million people.
“I never expected it to be this soon.”
