Former Manchester United star Nani has backed his old club to mount a surprise title challenge this season under manager Rúben Amorim, despite their difficult start to the campaign.
The Red Devils' season began poorly, finding themselves near the bottom of the table. However, the Portuguese manager appears to have completely turned things around at Old Trafford, guiding the side to three consecutive league wins.
That crucial run of form has lifted United up to sixth place in the table, just one point outside the top four and ahead of rivals Liverpool.
While Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal are widely regarded as the heavy title favourites, Nani, 38, suggested United could become shock contenders.“
"Why not?” Nani told Covers.com.
“They [Man United] are building a strong team and are trying to get back into real competition with the teams that are always at the top of the table: Arsenal, Liverpool, Chelsea, and Man City. So, they are there now. They have the possibility.”
"If they win the next few games, everything can change. So, we never know. Let’s keep on winning games, and then we’ll see."
