David De Gea faces difficult start to life at Fiorentina, conceding two goals in ECL play-offs
The former Manchester United goalkeeper completed his free transfer to Fiorentina after leaving the Red Devils in June 2023.
The Spanish goalkeeper made a fresh start to his career after being without a club for more than a year.
However, his debut game did not go as he would have liked as his new team struggled in their Europa Conference League play-offs.
De Gea debut for Fiorentina
De Gea has been working hard to keep himself fit before moving to Italy, but his first game after one year was disappointing.
In his first game in 446 days, the Spaniard faced five shots on goal and gave up three, so it was far from an easy ride, according to Daily Mail.
In the first twelve minutes of the game against Puskas Akademia, a European underdog, De Gea conceded two goals.
Fiorentina rallied to grab the lead, and after 75 minutes, Moise Kean gave the Italian team the lead.
But the visitors' equaliser in the 89th minute left Fiorentina with work to do if they wanted to advance to the group stages.
They had to force a 3-3 draw at home against Puskas AFC, the third-best team in Hungary, in the Europa Conference League play-offs.
Fiorentina will need to get their act together and get a win when they travel to Hungary for the second leg of the game.
