Crystal Palace fans protest UEFA decision
Crystal Palace fans protested outside Selhurst Park in London following UEFA's decision last week to remove the team from the Europa League and place them in the third-tier Europa Conference League.
Hundreds of Eagles supporters attended the protest, many carrying signs.
One read, "UEFA: Morally bankrupt. Reverse the decision now."
Crystal Palace qualified for the Europa League after winning the FA Cup against Manchester City in May.
This secured the club's first major trophy, despite its existence as a sports club since the 1860s.
UEFA's decision to penalize the English club stemmed from their failure to meet the March 1st deadline to resolve a conflict of interest involving French side Olympique Lyon. Both teams were recently owned by American businessman John Textor, although he has since sold his stake in Crystal Palace.
Since Friday, over 3,000 Crystal Palace fans have signed a petition to reinstate the team in the Europa League.
