China wins World Schools championship as St. Noa settles for bronze

St. Noa Girls put up a brave fight on Friday to finish third at the ISF World Schools Football championships in Morocco.

The Ugandans were representing the CECAFA region as the reigning champions of the East Africa Secondary Schools games.

Uganda’s hopes of winning the girls' championship for the first time were quashed after losing to China in the semifinals.

However, Peace Niyomwungere and Jowelia Nagadya scored in either half as the school from Zana dispatched Germany 2-0 to settle for bronze.

The gold and silver went to China which had two schools in the final.
