Chelsea Fans Express Frustration with Chants Directed at Pochettino and Boehly
The atmosphere at the Gtech Stadium turned hostile as fans voiced their frustrations over the club's struggles, culminating in a late equalizer salvaging a draw from what seemed like impending defeat.
Fan Outburst Targets Pochettino and Boehly
The chants began with explicit messages directed at owner Todd Boehly, with fans expressing their dissatisfaction by chanting "Boehly, you're a c***" while also invoking the name of previous owner Roman Abramovich, as reported by the Sun.
Pochettino, celebrating his 52nd birthday, received no respite from the fans, who instead called for his dismissal with chants of "f*** off Mauricio."
Even former boss Jose Mourinho wasn't spared from the fans' ire, as they voiced their discontent over the current state of affairs.
Pochettino responded to the fan anger after the game, acknowledging the need to rebuild the relationship through winning games. "I am not worried. We need to accept this," he stated.
"You just need to build the relationship through winning games. I won't ask for it. I will continue to work and change this perception."
Chelsea's Struggles and Billion-Pound Investments
The frustration among fans is exacerbated by Chelsea's current position, languishing in 11th place in the table.
Boehly's significant investment in players, totalling £1bn since purchasing the club two years ago, has yet to yield the desired results.
Following their recent defeat in the Carabao Cup final against an injury-hit Liverpool side, where they were labelled "billion-pound bottlejobs" by Gary Neville, tensions among Chelsea supporters have reached a boiling point.
