Chelsea attackers will create trouble for any defence - FIFA World Cup winner
Frank Leboeuf, a 1998 World Cup winner, has lauded Chelsea's attack strength ahead of the new season.
The former France star praised Chelsea after a promising 2-0 preseason win against Bayer Leverkusen.
Chelsea’s strong performance featured a well-rotated attack, with Liam Delap, Cole Palmer, Tyrique George, and Estêvão Willian starting, while Pedro Neto, João Pedro, and Jamie Gittens came off the bench.
Goals from Estêvão in the 18th minute and new signing João Pedro scored in the 90th minute to secure the win.
What Leboeuf said
Following the match, Leboeuf singled out Chelsea’s pace in transition, describing it as “pretty amazing” and warning that their speed could pose serious problems for opponents this season.
He said, “I was very impressed with the forward players, and all the players that came on because there were many substitutions. The pace that they have when they get the ball in transition, it’s pretty amazing and threatening for the future games that they are going to play against the others.
"I mean, they go fast. They’re very effective. And if Estevao, Neto, Palmer, and some others, of course Joao Pedro, are fit, they are going to create trouble for any defence," he added.
Chelsea’s pre-season continues with a fixture against AC Milan later today, ahead of their Premier League opener against Crystal Palace on August 17.
