Two high-ranking Bayern Munich chiefs have revealed the reasons behind the shock dismissal of former manager Julian Nagelsmann, despite the relative success of his tenure.
Nagelsmann was dismissed on Thursday night with former Chelsea and Borussia Dortmund manager Thomas Tuchel set to be given the team's reigns in a move that shocked the football world.
Nagelsmann sacked despite positive season
At the time of his dismissal, Nagelsmann’s Bayern Munich team was only a point off the top spot in the Bundesliga and were also in the quarterfinals of both the UEFA Champions League and the DFB Pokal.
With a game coming up against Borussia Dortmund, who are top of the Bundesliga currently, after the international break, Bayern Munich could have claimed top spot in the league as well under Nagelsmann, but the young manager was even not allowed to contest the tie.
Nagelsmann was fired despite guiding Bayern Munich to a 10th Bundesliga title and Bavarian bigwigs have had to answer questions pertaining to their unusual decision.
The real reasons Julian Nagelsmann was fired
Speaking on the issue, former Bayern Munich goalkeeper and current CEO, Oliver Kahn, said, : “Quality of our squad has shown less & less often. Since January we played less & less successfully and attractively.
