The 22-year-old Slovenian international, a highly sought-after talent across Europe, finalised his Old Trafford switch last week, declining an offer from Newcastle United in the process.

Arsenal had initially identified Sesko as a key target. However, after failing to reach an agreement with both the player and RB Leipzig, coupled with disagreements over the transfer fee structure and personal terms, the Gunners shifted their focus to Viktor Gyokeres, securing the Swedish international for £63 million.

Speaking to Slovenian channel POPoln kanal, Sesko's agent, Elvis Basanovic, addressed the failed Arsenal move.

When asked if personal demands from either himself or Sesko had caused the deal to collapse, Basanovic explained: "It's difficult to say definitively. Many factors influence a deal falling through. Benjamin's long-held desire to play for Manchester United was crucial.”

Sesko’s Man United Dream Saw Him Make Concessions

“He was willing to accept a slightly lower salary, and I was prepared to accept a reduced commission. It was a dream for both of us, and we're thrilled it came to fruition. We prefer to focus on Manchester United now and move forward."

Recent reports indicate Sesko accepted a lower salary at United than what was on offer at Newcastle. Basanovic confirmed he also sacrificed a portion of his commission to facilitate his client's dream move. "There was a gap that needed bridging," he stated. "I decided to give up part of my earnings. I believe an agent should prioritise the player's interests above their own."

Basanovic further revealed the complex negotiations, which spanned "three countries and six cities," often stretching "until 5 a.m."

He described the process with Manchester United as "extremely demanding," highlighting the club's extensive staff and the involvement of their "prolific negotiator," Matt Hargreaves. "They practically followed my every move over the last two weeks," Basanovic added.
