The 28-year-old Brazilian was Barcelona's most decisive player last season. However, Hansi Flick has not been able to count on him as much this season, as he has battled with fitness.

He was curiously replaced at half-time during the 3-1 victory against Elche on Saturday. Barcelona have now confirmed that he is struggling with fitness, which rules him out for the midweek cup clash.

The Blaugrana will face Albacete on Tuesday and approach the game with caution, as the second-division side has already knocked out two LaLiga sides: Celta Vigo and Real Madrid. However, they will have to approach the game against Raphinha, who has to be rested for the match.

"𝐑𝐚𝐩𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐡𝐚 is experiencing an overload in the adductor of his right leg. He will be sidelined as a precaution for the match against Albacete, and the recovery period will be one week," the statement read.

Hansi Flick's comment

Hansi Flick has immense trust in Raphinha, and his high-energy system relies on the Brazilians pressing and ruthlessness in front of the goal. Hence, he has been left frustrated by the former Leeds' man's latest injury.

“To be honest, I’m not happy about this," Flick said. "He is a very important player for us. Let’s see what will have to change and what we will have to change. Now the important phase of the season begins and we need them all. When he can’t play, it’s not good.”
