Barcelona recceive 9 nominations in LaLiga Team of the Season shortlist

LaLiga champions-in-waiting Barcelona have received the most nominations in the league’s team of the season shortlist, with nine of their players receiving nods. 

The Blaugrana had more nominations than Real Madrid, who were the next best with eight players, while Atletico Madrid also featured heavily with four of their stars included. 

While Barcelona’s Alejandro Balde and Jules Kunde made the final shortlist, there was some apprehension from fans as their teammates Ronald Araujo and Andreas Christensen were omitted. 

 Other LaLiga teams outside the big three were also ably represented, with only three of the league’s 20 teams failing to get at least one player on the shortlist. 

Rayo Vallecano’s Isi Palazon was rewarded for his impressive season in LaLiga, as were Athletic Club’s Nico Williams, Espanyol’s Joselu, and Getafe’s Enes Unal who have also been in good form in the 2022/23 campaign.
