‘Barb that hair’ - Super Eagles keeper warned for looking like Manchester United’s Andre Onana
Super Eagles goalkeeper Adebayo Adeleye has sparked a wave of reactions from fans who have urged him to change his hairstyle, following uncanny comparisons to Manchester United’s Andre Onana.
The Israel-based goalkeeper, one of three shot-stoppers called up to the Super Eagles as Nigeria battle to revive their 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying hopes, recently went viral after pictures of him circulated on social media.
Supporters quickly pointed out his striking resemblance to the troubled Unted goalkeeper Onana, which led to some playful yet pointed advice.
Fans joked that they initially mistook Adeleye for Onana, with one saying they had already criticised him before realising which jersey he wore.
Another enthusiast urged Adeleye to “barb that hair for your own good,” suggesting a fresh haircut could help him stand out and avoid the comparisons.
Some fans even quipped that the similarity was so strong they thought Onana might have switched national teams. Others noted that Adeleye’s beard also closely resembled Onana’s, adding another layer to the likeness.
As Nigeria prepares for crucial World Cup qualifiers against Rwanda and South Africa, supporters are hoping Adeleye can carve out his own distinct identity on the pitch, starting with a new look to match his talent.
Meanwhile, Adeleye admires the former Inter Milan goalkeeper Andre Onana and spoke exclusively to Pulse Sports Nigeria about the Cameroonian during the Super Eagles' first training session in Lagos two years ago.
