Transfer News: Awoniyi, Aina to get Man City star as new teammate after deal agreed
Relegation-battling Nottingham Forest have reached a full agreement with Manchester City to sign goalkeeper Stefan Ortega on a permanent deal.
The 33-year-old German is expected to complete a move to the City Ground on a short-term contract, with a medical scheduled before the transfer window closes on Monday.
Stefan Ortega joins Aina, Awoniyi at Nottingham Forest
Ortega has found himself on the sidelines this season, failing to make a single appearance for Pep Guardiola's side following the arrivals of Gianluigi Donnarumma and James Trafford.
Ortega's departure marks a significant overhaul of Manchester City's goalkeeping department over the past six months.
The club sold long-time number one Ederson to Turkish club Fenerbahce before the season began and subsequently brought in both Donnarumma and Trafford last summer.
Last season, Ortega played a crucial role in Ederson's absence, making 21 appearances for City. His most recent competitive game was at the Club World Cup, where he featured in a dominant 6-0 victory over Egyptian side Al-Ain.
Should the deal be finalized, Ortega will become Forest's second signing of the January window, after the club secured striker Lorenzo Lucca on loan from Napoli with an option to make the move permanent.
Ortega will compete for a starting spot to play behind a defence that includes Super Eagles of Nigeria versatile full-back Ola Aina.
Forest's transfer activity may not end there, as the club is reportedly pursuing a deal for Inter Milan midfielder Davide Frattesi.
The Italian international, who has made 19 appearances for Inter this season, is being targeted for a loan with an option to buy as a replacement for Douglas Luiz, whose loan spell was cut short before he returned to Aston Villa.
