The versatile full-back, who is currently working his way back to full match fitness after a lengthy injury layoff, proved to be a decisive factor at the Gtech Community Stadium.

Fans noted the strong partnership developing between Aina and Serbian defender Nikola Milenkovic, with the latter reportedly benefitting significantly from Aina’s tactical awareness on the right flank.

“This lad Ola. Reckon he must be 65% match fit at best. Schade gave him an early run around but he stuck to his task. Got himself an assist. Got himself another clean sheet. Milenkovic proper loves having him on his right shoulder. He's an #NFFC heartbeat player,” noted the Forest fan.

Aina’s return comes at a critical time for Sean Dyche's team. Having missed the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations due to a hamstring injury, the defender appears to be regaining the form that made him a mainstay in the team prior to his setback.

While his manager has remained cautious regarding his fitness levels, Aina’s "lung-busting" run to secure the assist for the first goal suggested he is ahead of schedule.

His ability to maintain defensive discipline against Kevin Schade and Rico Henry, even while visibly fatigued in the latter stages of the match, has solidified his reputation as one of the most reliable full-backs in the Premier League.
