Aucho’s Yanga, Watenga’s Marumo Gallants eye semis
Uganda Cranes duo Khalid Aucho and Ismail Watenga will be in action on Sunday as the 2022/23 CAF Confederations Cup enter the second leg of the quarterfinals on Sunday.
Aucho’s Young Africans won their first leg against Rivers United 2-0 in Nigeria a week ago and will be looking to capitalize on their strong home base to progress to the semis.
The Tanzanian giants will be looking forward to reaching the semifinals of a continental championship for the first time in their 88 years of existence.
They reached the quarterfinal in 1969 and 1970 in the Africa Cup of Champions Clubs, now the CAF Champions League and then the CAF Confederations in 1995.
In South Africa, Marumo Gallants host Pyramids from Egypt at their Dobsonville Stadium in Johannesburg.
Marumo, home to Ugandan goalkeeper Ismail Watenga, picked a point in their 1-all draw in Cairo.
Elsewhere, ASEC Mimosa will host Union Monastirienne in Ivory Coast. The two drew 0-0 from the first leg,
