Asisat Oshoala: Super Falcons star explains importance of WAFCON

Super Falcons of Nigeria star Asisat Oshoala has stated the significance of winning the 2024 Women's Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) title.

In a recent interview, Oshoala shared her personal and team aspirations.

When asked about WAFCON she said, "Personally, it's more like pretty much the same as every other big tournament.

"Obviously, special one for the team trying to win the 10th one.

"For me as an individual, missed out on the last one. i just want to have fun this time around as well.

"Like, help the team achieve their Mission X basically."

On expectation for the team, she added, "Basically, Every time same thing, give 100 percent on the pitch.

"Try to win every game we play, treat every game as important.

"For me personally, I love to score goals that what i want to do.

"Whenever, I'm on the pitch i want to score goals i want to play, help my teammates get three points each game."

Oshoala, who has already secured three WAFCON titles in 2014, 2016, and 2018, views the 2024 edition as a unique opportunity.

For Oshoala, this would not only add to her personal tally of successes but also reinforce the Super Falcons' status as the most successful team in WAFCON history.
