Antonio Conte expresses his view on celebrating top 4 finish
Antonio Conte has shared his perspective on celebrating a fourth-place finish in the Premier League while he was at Tottenham Hotspur.
The Italian manager has managed two Premier League teams, Chelsea and Tottenham. The manager helped the Blues to a Premier League title but the expectations at Spurs were different; he failed to win a trophy but managed to get them into Champions League places.
Conte's view on fourth place
Antonio Conte expressed his bewilderment at the celebration of a fourth-place finish. He recounted the moment after the final game against Norwich, emphasising his message to his staff. "For me, to celebrate fourth place was strange,” Conte remarked.
He continued, explaining his immediate reaction: "At the end of the final game vs Norwich, I called my staff — I said pay attention; don’t be used to celebrating a Champions League place.”
A Winner's Mentality
Conte's comments further reveal his ethos towards competition and success. “I’m used to winning, not to celebrate 4th place”, he told @Matt_Law_DT.
His managerial career took off at Juventus, where he secured three consecutive Serie A titles from 2011 to 2014, reinstating the club as a dominant force in Italian football. Conte's tactical acumen then led Chelsea to a Premier League title in the 2016-2017 season, showcasing his ability to adapt and thrive in different footballing cultures.
Additionally, he claimed the FA Cup with Chelsea in 2018. At Inter Milan, Conte ended Juventus' nine-year Serie A dominance by winning the league in the 2020-2021 season, demonstrating his expertise in building winning teams and relentless pursuit of success.
