Andre Onana declared as the best goalkeeper in the world despite Europa League error
Christian Onana, brother of Manchester United goalkeeper André Onana, has come to his sibling’s defense following the backlash over a goal conceded during the Europa League final against Tottenham Hotspur.
The Cameroonian shot-stopper came under scrutiny after failing to stop a strike from Spurs’ Brennan Johnson, a moment many fans and pundits pointed to as an important lapse in the Red Devils’ narrow defeat.

However, Christian insists that one isolated error should not overshadow the achievements or abilities of a player he considers among the world's elite.
“It doesn’t change his status as a great player. He’s one of the best goalkeepers in the world, and what’s more, he’s an Indomitable Lion,” Christian said in an interview with Le Bled Parle.
“A lion can slip, but he never falls," he added.
André Onana, who joined Manchester United on a five-year deal in the summer of 2023, is contracted to the club until 2028. Despite a mixed season filled with highs and occasional errors, he has remained the club’s first-choice keeper.
Christian emphasised that the backlash is part of the game but believes keeping perspective is important.
He said, “Every great player has their tough moments. What matters is how they respond, and André has always shown the strength to bounce back.”

The Manchester United camp has not issued an official statement, but club insiders suggest that confidence in Onana remains intact heading into the summer.
