American star Sha’ Carri Richardson loses Botswana Grand Prix

Known for her flamboyance, Richardson was among the top athletes at the event.

She was destined to square out with Jamaican star Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce in the 100m.

However, Fraser-Pryce could not make it to Botswana, citing personal issues. Richardson then decided to switch to 200m.

Her compatriot Kayla White took the day, bagging gold with a time of 22.38 seconds.

Richardson settled for second place in 22.54 seconds, while Basant Hemida finished in third place with 22.57 seconds.

Richardson was last active on the track in June last year at the USA Track and Field Trials.

In the men’s 100m home boy, Letsile Tebogo made up for the loss to Kenya’s Ferdinand Omanyala as he posted a personal best of 19.87 seconds.

He beat Canada's Aaron Brown, who posted 20.00 seconds and Joseph Fahnbulleh (20.14 seconds) in third place.
