Harambee Stars defender Alphonce Omija looks to have started settling in well at Tunisian club Etoile du Sahel after a run of impressive performances.

Omija joined the 11-time Tunisian champions before the start of this season and has quickly made himself a key player, slotting straight into the team.

While Sahel started the season a bit shaky and also crashed out of the CAF Confederation Cup at the second preliminary round following a loss to Nairobi United, they have found their groove back since that disappointment.

The Sousse-based club have put together a run of three straight wins in the league although they are still nine points behind leaders Esperance, who look well on course to win another title.

Sahel beat Zarzis 1-0 on Wednesday, the win coming after a 2-0 victory over Metlaoui last weekend, having bounced back from the defeat to Nairobi United by beating AS Marsa by the same scoreline.

What is more impressive and perhaps where Omija has a big hand in is the fact that those three wins have been won without conceding, having tightened things at the back after a leaky defence in the opening weeks of the season.

Harambee Stars Defender Keen on More Wins

“Getting closer. To many more days like this,” an excited Omija posted on Facebook, expressing his delight at the good run his club is on.

The former Gor Mahia defender seems to be carving a place out for him at the North African club who still have ambitions of playing continental football next season after missing out on the group stages this term.

Sahel’s good run has also coincided with the arrival of new coach Mohamed Ali Nafkha, who was appointed in October just before their Confederation Cup exit, and he has steadied the ship, giving fans belief that a change in fortunes is in the offing.
