It was a warm welcome back to club football for the Portuguese superstar at his Saudi Arabian club Al Nassr.
Ronaldo became the most-capped player of all time in men’s football following a successful outing with Portugal during the must-concluded International break.
He featured in both games as Portugal easily dispatched Luxembourg and Liechtenstein in the Euro qualifiers.
Al Nassr celebrate Ronaldo
The former European champions scored 10 goals in both matches, with Ronaldo in superb form as he was involved in four of them.
He scored a brace in either game in what was his 196th and 197th appearances, becoming the most-capped men’s player ever.
On his return to Saudi Arabia, the 38-year-old received a resounding welcome from his club, who presented him with a cake to celebrate his milestone achievement.
“On history, we celebrate,” Al Nassr posted on their official social media account, with a picture of Ronaldo as his cake.
Also, it was a double celebration indeed at the club as they celebrated the birthday of Ghareeb Abdulrahman.
Ghareeb turned 26 on Friday and also received a lovely cake from the club.
“Today, we celebrate a record and birthday,” the club added in another tweet.
“The record of most capped player in international football and birthday of the talented Saudi player.”
In the mean time, the Portuguese could lose one of his numerous titles after former club Juventus received a petition.
According to reports, Codacons, a consumer protection agency, and a Napoli fan club called Associazione Club Napoli Maradona filed an appeal with the TAR tribunal requesting that the 2018/19 league title be handed to Napoli.
They claimed that Juventus still 'altered the regularity of 2018/19, 2019/20 and 2020/21 campaigns,' citing their capital gains scandal—which they have already received punishment for—and the ongoing Prisma case.
The Old Ladies have already been docked 15 points this season for misrepresenting their finances over a series of transfer dealings in the last few seasons.
The 2018/19 season is one of the seasons under which they were punished for the said irregularities, and the appeal requests they be stripped of the league title they won that season and the Scudetto that year be given to second-placed Napoli.
