African Games: Falconets show Ladan Bosso's Eagles how it is done after reaching another final
Nigeria's U20 women's team, the Falconets, gave their underachieving male counterparts the Flying Eagles a lesson in getting the job done with a hard-fought 2-0 win over Uganda at the African Games in Ghana.
While the Flying Eagles crashed out at the group stage, the Falconets ensured they'll be staying longer in Ghana by booking their place in the semi-finals in dramatic fashion on Monday night.
Substitutes Strike Late for Falconets
After a tense goalless first half, it was Nigeria's second-half substitutes who made the vital difference against the Ugandans.
Okah Adaobi broke the deadlock in the 75th minute before Chiamaka Okwuchukwu sealed the 2-0 victory with a late second five minutes from time.
The crucial win sets up a mouthwatering semi-final clash for the Falconets against either hosts Ghana or Senegal as they aim to defend their African Games title.
Neutrals will be hoping they can go one better than the Flying Eagles' underwhelming campaign by mounting a serious gold medal challenge.

Ladan Bosso's U20 men's side bowed out at the group stage after picking up just one win from three matches against Uganda, South Sudan and Senegal.
Defence of Title On the Cards?
Having won gold in the previous edition in 2019, the Falconets will be confident of mounting a strong defence of their African Games crown this time around.
Their professional performance to see off a dangerous Ugandan team demonstrated their potential to go all the way if they can maintain those levels.
While the men may have faltered, Nigeria's young women are flying the flag high and showing that the future could be very bright for their national teams.
If they can claim gold in Ghana over the coming days, the Falconets will have underlined their status as a rising force to be reckoned with.
