AFCON 2025: Super Eagles Group C opponent names 30-Man Provisional squad
Super Eagles 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) opponent, Uganda’s national team coach, Paul Put, has announced a 30-man provisional squad, as the Cranes gear up for what could be one of their most challenging tournament.
Put, who continues to reshape the team’s identity, named a roster featuring a heavy attacking lineup and a mixture of experienced and emerging talents.
Balanced Squad With Strong Forward Options
The Belgian tactician’s initial selection includes four goalkeepers, nine defenders, five midfielders and an eye-catching sixteen forwards. Uganda is expected to rely heavily on its attacking options as they prepare for tough continental opposition.

The team will be reduced to a final 28-man squad before the deadline on December 11, in line with CAF regulations.
Uganda to camp in Morocco
Uganda will travel to Casablanca, Morocco, on Sunday for an 11-day training camp aimed at fine-tuning tactical details and improving team chemistry.
During the camp, the Cranes will participate in two international friendly matches as part of their final preparations ahead of next month’s qualifiers.
Group C: Uganda Faces Nigeria, Tunisia and Tanzania
The Cranes find themselves in Group C, alongside heavyweights Nigeria and Tunisia, as well as regional rivals Tanzania.
Uganda’s opening match will be against Tunisia’s Carthage Eagles on Tuesday, December 23, in what promises to set the tone for their AFCON campaign.
With Nigeria among the tournament favourites and Tunisia boasting a strong tournament history, Uganda will need to start strong to boost its qualification chances.
