The players of the Super Eagles of Nigeria have sent their condolences to heavyweight boxer Anthony Joshua after he got involved in an accident.

On Monday, December 29, 2025, world-famous boxer Anthony Joshua was involved in a serious road accident on the Lagos-Ibadan expressway in Makun, Ogun State.

The collision reportedly occurred when the Lexus SUV transporting Joshua (licence plate KRD 850 HN) hit a stationary truck.

While Joshua is reported to have sustained only minor injuries, a witness stated that two other individuals died at the scene.

Super Eagles players' words to Anthony Joshua

Following the sad news about the accident of the world-famous boxer, Super Eagles players have expressed their sadness.

The Super Eagles secured a 3-1 victory against Uganda on Tuesday and topped the Group C table with nine points.

They comfortably qualified for the round of 16 of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations as they await their next opponent.

After the game, some Nigerian players were interviewed and asked if they had a message for Joshua, who was involved in an accident.

The first player, Victor Osimhen, said, “It is really devastating to hear something like that for someone that is putting Nigeria on the map. My thoughts are with him and his family and the ones that he lost.”

Bassey, in his interview, said, “I just pray God be with him and I wish him speedy recovery and I also wish my condolences to the people that lost their family members. These are things you never want to see or hear. Honestly, it is so sad at the moment.”

Dele Bashiru also said in his interview, “I just want to give my condolences. It was a very sad news to hear. I think it is a news that shakes all of us in Nigeria and here (Morocco). Just condolences, honestly.”
