The Confederation of African Football, CAF, has officially recognised the Nigeria Super Eagles for delivering the most clinical attacking performance at the AFCON 2025.

In a social media post celebrating the tournament’s standout moment, the football governing body noted Nigeria’s ruthless display in front of goal against Mozambique.

“The biggest win of the TotalEnergiesAFCON2025? Super Eagles 4-0,” CAF posted via its official channels.

The award-worthy performance came during the round of 16 encounter at the Fez Stadium, where the Eagles ran riot and dismantled Mozambique to book a ticket to the quarterifnals.

While other giants struggled with cagey knockout fixtures, the Super Eagles put on a show and soared higher. The victory was defined by a masterclass in transition play and aerial dominance led by Victor Osimhen.

The latest Atletico Madrid forward, Ademola Lookman, opened the scoring in the 20th minute, before Osimhen added a second for a 2-0 lead at the break, with both goals assisted by Akor Adam.

Osimhen netted his second of the game and Nigeria’s third to make it 3-0 two minutes after the break, before Adams wrapped things up in the 68th minute, this time, both goals were assisted by Lookman.

The thrashing isn’t just a highlight for this edition, it entered history books as the biggest AFCON knockout win since 2010 when Egypt defeated Algeria by a similar margin.

Nigeria’s Super Eagles went on to finish the AFCON 2025 as the best attack with 12 goals, showing the offensive intent under Eric Chelle and Nigeria’s attacking depth that eventually led them to a record ninth bronze medal after a third place win against Egypt.
