AC Milan eye Super Eagles-eligible star to partner Chukwueze in attack
AC Milan are reportedly interested in striking a deal with Atletico Madrid for 20-year-old striker Samu Omorodion, should they be unable to secure Bologna talisman Joshua Zirkzee.
AC Milan hit Zirkzee roadblock
The Rossoneri remain in talks with Bologna for Zirkzee, their primary choice to replace the outgoing Olivier Giroud, but negotiations have hit a snag due to the large commission fee demanded by the Dutchman’s agent, reportedly around €15 million on top of the player’s €40 million release clause, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport.
While Milan are still hopeful of landing Zirkzee, they have an extensive list of alternatives, in case they are priced out the Dutch striker with Arsenal and Manchester United also interested in their number one target, and Omorodion is emerging as a strong candidate.
Omorodion attracting interest
Omorodion joined Atletico Madrid from Granada for a €5 million fee last summer after scoring against the Rojiblancos and was subsequently loaned to Alaves for the 2023-24 campaign. During his loan stint, the youngster scored eight goals in 24 league appearances, contributing to Alaves' 10th place finish in La Liga.
At 1.93 meters tall, Omorodion has a physical presence similar to Giroud, making him an ideal candidate to fill the role of the outgoing French striker. Additionally, his versatility and potential for growth make him an attractive option for Milan’s attacking lineup.
