The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has announced a delay in the first phase of ticket sales for the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) Morocco 2025, following the official platform's crash just minutes after going live on Thursday.
The much-anticipated presale, which opened exclusively to Visa cardholders at noon on September 25, quickly descended into chaos as thousands of eager fans rushed to secure seats.
The overwhelming demand caused the website tickets.cafonline.com to crash almost immediately.
Fans attempting to purchase tickets were met with an error message reading: “Ticketing temporarily unavailable. Due to high demand, all available tickets are being purchased quickly. Thank you for your understanding.”
What CAF said
In a statement, CAF said it needed to “finalise important details that will ensure the best possible experience for fans” before reopening sales.
The body apologised for the disruption and promised to announce a new date soon.
The original plan structured ticket sales in multiple phases: September 25–27: Presale for Visa cardholders (30% of stadium capacity)
September 27: General public sale from 2 p.m. Moroccan time and October 21–23: Second presale window.
CAF confirmed it is working with the Local Organising Committee (LOC) and technical partners to address the issue.
