When Olusegun Obasanjo, a former president, ordered some traditional leaders to rise up and meet him, he reinforced the constitutional superiority of elected officials.
This directive was given by Obasanjo at the opening of the 34.85 km Oyo-Iseyin Road and the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology's Iseyin Campus.
The former president, who spoke in Yoruba, emphasized that it was vital for people to respect elders and those in positions of authority despite the traditional rulers' status.
He claims that by doing this, the Yoruba Omoluabi tradition will be able to be preserved.

While Obasanjo was the guest of Seyi Makinde, the governor of Oyo State, he took the chance to scold the kings for not standing up for him.
