Diego Simeone has said players who don’t have enough sex won’t make his team
Former Spain defensive midfielder and now coach of Athletico Madrid has issued a “warning” to players who only have sex four times a month.
The 53-year-old jokingly said that any footballer in his Athletico Madrid side risked missing out on a starting place if they did not have enough sex.

Diego Simeone came agonisingly close to winning a Champions League medal with his Athletico Madrid team in 2014 but lost out in dramatic fashion to arch-rivals Real Madrid.
According to Simeone, having sexual intercourse with one’s spouse is very important, and not having a ‘healthy dose’ could jeopardise a player’s opportunity of featuring for his team.
How much sex do Spaniards have on average?
A DailyMail report quoted an interview Simeone had with Cadena COPE, where he answered questions about the imminent return of Joao Felix from Chelsea.
However, the interview soon drifted to some personal matters when the topic of the minimum number of times people have sex came up.
The presenter cited a study that claimed that the average Spaniard had sex just 56 times within a month.
“How many? 56... 56 a year... How many are a month? Four a month? Four a month no..,” Simeone responded.
There was laughter in the studio when Simeone added,
“With four times a month, you can't play in my team.”
Simeone states how much sex is enough
The interviewer decided to find out from the fierce coach known for playing defensive football how much sex he considers enough.
Diego Simeone said fifteen times a month, adding that he and his model wife Carla Pereyra, whom he married in 2019, have a good average.
“Fifteen a month? I'm not going to say... but we have a good average.”
The Argentine tactician and his first wife Carolina Baldini have three sons (all professional footballers, including Giovanni Simeone, who plays for Napoli).
Diego Simeone and his new wife have two daughters together.
