KCB, Kabras Sugar, and Strathmore Leos have all been placed in tricky pools as all three clubs stand a chance of lifting the overall series title on Sunday.

Ahead of what is going to be the final National Sevens Circuit leg with plenty at stake as three clubs stand a chance of lifting the overall title, the pools for the George Mwangi Kabeberi Memorial Sevens set to take place at the RFUEA Grounds have been released.

Defending Kabeberi 7s champions KCB will have to deal with current Circuit champions Menengai Oilers, Catholic Monks, and the Moi University Arsonists in Pool D.

Circuit leaders, Kabras Sugar have tournament hosts Mwamba, Masinde Muliro, and Daystar Falcons to contend with in Pool C as the Strathmore Leos will get to navigate their way out of Pool B which features Kisumu, Nakuru, and Impala.

The grand old club of Kenyan rugby, Nondescripts, who are fresh from winning the Tisap 7s, their first cup title in 21 years, are tournament top seeds and will be out to replicate their exploits from Eldoret. They are in Pool A, alongside Blak Blad, Kenya Harlequin, and the Tessen Warriors.

Tessen Warriors is a Samurai international franchise bringing together players from various countries

Only one point separates title protagonists Kabras Sugar, who lead the race on 92 points from KCB while Strathmore Leos still remain in the mix, with their 82 points placing them third on the overall table.

Kabras Sugar can claim their first circuit title in six years if they simply finish the tournament ahead of KCB in the knockout stages of the cup competition.

KCB can win the circuit title if they reach the cup semis and Kabras fall at the cup quarters.

Strathmore Leos can claim their first title since 2009 if they reach the cup final and Kabras and KCB fail to make the cup quarters.

The teams will be out to proceed from Saturday’s group stages and battle for the overall title on Sunday but must contend with potentially tricky fixtures within their respective groups.

USIU, winners of the Div 2 competition in Eldoret, have opted to play in the Div 2 competition at Kabeberi and their slot in Div 1 is taken up by Moi University.

The Division 2 draw will be announced in a subsequent post.
