Israel Adesanya: UFC champion says Nigeria is not jealous of Ghana

According to Adesanya, Nigeria is not jealous of the development in Ghana.

Nigerian and New Zealand professional mixed martial artist, kickboxer Israel Mobolaji Adesanya, is back on the trend.

Adesanya, the two-time Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Middleweight title holder, was on the Flagrant Podcast.

The 33-year-old has time to discuss a variety of topics with hosts Andrew Schulz and Akaash Singh.

Adesanya on Nigeria vs Ghana rivalry

Nigeria and Ghana are two western African countries that both adopted English as their official language after colonization by the British Empire.

There has been a rivalry of some sort between Ghana and Nigeria over the years.

From football between the Black Stars of Ghana and the Super Eagles of Nigeria to food, the rivalry between the two countries creates interesting conversations on social media.

According to the most recent Global Innovation Index (GII), Ghana is ranked 112th out of 132 nations in terms of innovation, whereas Nigeria is placed 118th.

There have also been reports of a boom in Ghana's tourism industry, thereby increasing the rivalry with Nigeria.

Adesanya's response to Ghana vs Nigeria rivalry

Adesanya started off explaining the traffic situation in Nigeria compared to other countries.

He said, "No Nigeria,  it's like everyone's on a race to Nowhere."

On the podcast, Adesanya was asked by Schulz if he was jealous of Ghana coming from Nigeria.

Adesanya who recently launched his Stylebender documentary film, explained that he actually moved from Nigeria to Ghana to live for a while before his family migrated to New Zealand.

Schulz asked if Ghana is really coming up, and Nigeria is a little jealous that Ghana is coming up.

Adesanya responded, "I lived in Ghana for about a year and a half Accra

"If you know you know like I went to Sunnyside primary school I was out there in Ghana I tried to watch at the banku."

Adesanya then went on to talk about several topics involving Nigeria.

He made the assertion that Nigerian Jollof Rice is better than that from Ghana or Senegal.

The Stylebender made his comments about the jollof wars between Nigeria and Ghana after he questioned who Made God on the Impaulsive podcast with American social media personality, actor, and professional wrestler Logan Alexander Paul.

Adesanya is now expected to return to the Octagon later this year in Australia to face the winner of a final eliminator between Dricus Du Plessis and Robert Whittaker.
